Mapleton bond now narrowly passing, latest results show

The fate of the Mapleton school district’s request for a $150 million bond has swung and the latest numbers now show it is narrowly passing.

Adams County updated its last election numbers just after 8 p.m. Thursday. With 11,461 votes counted, the bond measure is now passing by just 45 votes.

Madison Andersen, a spokeswoman for the Adams County Clerk, said more ballots must be counted, but the next update won’t be posted until “early next week.”

Prior to the Thursday night update, the bond measure was losing by 104 votes. The district’s mill levy request has remained safely ahead with more than 54 percent of the votes counted being in support.

If the slim margin remains for the bond, it could trigger an automatic recount.
