18 practice questions to prepare for Indiana’s 2016 ISTEP test

In a lot of ways, this year’s state ISTEP test will be very similar to last year’s — same academic standards, same content, same pool of questions. But the framework surrounding how the test will be given has changed.

Indiana’s new test-writing company, British-based Pearson, is on-track to create both the 2016 and 2017 tests, which use a slightly different computer platform than before. The state is hopeful the new vendor might also reduce scoring and design problems that plagued last year’s exam, which now has lawmakers calling for an end to the test as a whole.

The Indiana Department of Education, in partnership with Pearson, released practice questions for grades 3-8 and 10 in the four tested subjects: math, English, science and social studies. Try out some multiple choice questions below, and visit Pearson’s website for more interactive options in all subjects.

If you want to learn more about what “technology enhanced” questions look like or try out questions from last year, we’ve got you covered there, too.

You can find additional information about the state’s testing program at the Indiana Department of Education’s website.
