Scenes from Chalkbeat’s end-of-year celebration

Chalkbeat New York celebrated the end of the school year with more than 100 education advocates, teachers, parents and friends at our end-of-school happy hour Tuesday night.

The night included a first look at our upcoming series based on months of reporting inside a Brooklyn high school that is part of the city’s new program to improve struggling schools. Attendees watched a video highlighting students from Brooklyn Generation School and met two of the students featured prominently in the series after a short Q&A with Chalkbeat senior reporter Patrick Wall.

Space for the event was donated by Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, a leading residency program for emerging visual artists, at its New York space.
