Applying to General Public High Schools in New York City
There are 1,539 public high schools in NYC, and students are free to apply to most of them. They are ranked by graduation rates, test scores, college acceptance lists, grades, size, club or athletic offerings, curriculum style, average class size, and more. This session will provide an overview of the schools, selection criteria, academic expectations, outline the high school application process, and provide a parent perspective from Beacon High School, one of the top general admission public high schools in the city.
