The Safe and Sound Schools Conference, hosted annually by Bank Street College of Education, is a day of collaboration and study of Emotionally Responsive Practice as part of the Community of Safe and Sound Schools Initiative. This annual conference is for elementary schools and early childhood programs that want to make sure that teachers, social workers, and administrators have a deep understanding of child development, social and emotional foundations for learning, parent engagement, and mastery of supportive techniques for building a safe and empathic school community. The event will include a keynote presentation and several breakout sessions for participants. Participants will receive 6 Social Work CE credits, 6 Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) Hours, or 0.6 Continuing Education Unit. Join us for an evening of true stories from Memphis educators and students. Chalkbeat Tennessee is hosting a storytelling event under the theme "Natural Consequences" alongside Spillit.
We'll explore how natural and unnatural, just and unjust consequences to actions impact our lives and experiences. Storytellers will deliver personal stories, and many of them will touch on how, in diverse ways, school discipline has impacted their lives. Don't miss our latest investigation into school discipline practices here.Tickets are 10 dollars and available at the door the evening of the show.
