Working Group: Progress Monitoring IEP Counseling Goals
When a student is recommended to receive school-based counseling on an IEP, there are goals that come along with this mandate. Progress monitoring is supposed assess whether or not there is movement toward these goals and whether or not the therapeutic interventions being used are effective; however, social-emotional progress can be quite challenging to qualify, quantify, track and assess. This session will take the form of a working group, where mental health professionals can come together to tackle some of these challenges, learn from each other, and walk away with practical next steps to make progress monitoring more purposeful, informative, and sustainable. By attending this session, attendees will leave with: Guidance related to creating progress monitoring schedules Ideas related to operationalizing large concepts (e.g. self-esteem or anxiety) Suggestions related to data collection An understanding of how multi-variable influences interact with progress monitoring Ways that trends/patterns can be used to instruct PD and school initiatives Practical next steps to bring back to their school
