Education News Colorado and EdNews Parent have launched a new service for people interested in school performance data. It is called the Colorado Student Data Center and it is a searchable map and database that provides a treasure-trove of information on every school in Colorado. As we head into the annual window for families to choose schools for their children, this should provide an easy-to-use and informative tool for parents who want detailed information on schools that would serve their children well. A portal into the service is now available on EdNews Parent and should be available soon on EdNews. You can also go directly to the service by clicking here.

If you need some holiday reading, Gov. Bill Ritter and Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien yesterday handed out copies of a new report chronicling the work of the Governor’s P-20 Education Coordinating Council from its appointment in 2007 until today.

“When I became Governor, creating a world-class education system was a top priority. That’s why I created the P-20 Council, a panel of education experts from across Colorado who worked hard to create a framework of initiatives that would transform our education system to benefit our children for years to come,” Ritter said in a news release. “There is more work to be done. But I am proud to look back and see the amazing body of work that this council created on behalf of Colorado’s children and our future.”

You can find the report here.

Education News Colorado’s daily churn is off the rest of the week. Enjoy the holidays!
