What’s churning:
The State Board of Education may reveal its choice for commissioner of education at a 4:15 p.m. meeting Thursday.
The meeting was announced Tuesday afternoon “to consider the appointment or employment of a public official.”
The board held several closed meetings last week to interview candidates and another on Tuesday to discuss things. The board’s timetable has called for selecting a candidate by May in hopes the new commissioner could start work July 1.
Members have done a good job of keeping their proceedings secret. No reliable gossip about their possible choice is circulating in education circles, although the board is believed to have interviewed about half a dozen candidates last week, including a selection of Colorado, out-of-state, traditional and non-traditional candidates.

The St. Vrain school board will have a joint study session with the Frederick City Council at 6 p.m. at High School, 600 Fifth St.
The Adams 12-Five Star school board meets at 7 p.m. in the Aspen Room of the Education Conference Center of district headquarters, 1500 E. 128th Ave. in Thornton. Agenda
