Colorado Children’s Campaign names new leader

The longtime CEO of a Denver-based youth development organization has been named the new leader of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, an advocacy group known for its work on child health and education issues.

Kelly Causey, CEO of Mile High Youth Corps, will take the post Oct. 3, replacing former President and CEO Chris Watney.

A press release from the Children’s Campaign highlighted Causey’s expansion of the tiny Youth Corps into a large, multi-county operation with an impressive fundraising punch. It also touted her efforts to push youth-oriented legislation and open a charter high school in Denver.

“In her decades-long career, Kelly has been a voice for young people in the state and will use her experience to shape the direction of policies that support our 1.2 million children,” said Remy Spreeuw, chair of the Children’s Campaign board of directors and publisher of 5280 Magazine.

Watney left the Colorado Children’s Campaign earlier this summer to expand her private counseling practice. Bill Jaeger, the campaign’s vice president for early childhood initiatives, filled the vacancy on an interim basis.
