After telling teachers they won’t get summer paychecks, Detroit charter school management company explains how it hopes to get teachers paid

Just days after giving teachers the painful news that they wouldn’t be paid this summer for work they did during the school year, the management company of a recently closed charter school sent teachers another letter Monday. This time, the news is a little bit better — maybe.

The management company, Matchbook Learning, had alerted teachers at the Michigan Technical Academy in an email Wednesday that money that was supposed to pay teachers would instead go to pay off the school’s debts. In that email, Matchbook Learning said the matter was out of its control.

Company CEO Sajan George followed up with another letter to teachers on Thursday in which he promised to do whatever he could to help them get paid.

But in another update on Monday, George said there may be some ways for teachers to get what’s owed to them. Here’s the letter he sent:
