School closures can be difficult for any students, but they're particularly so for English learners who might already be struggling in school. Can a new school serve their needs, their parents wonder?

Earlier this year, a school in Detroit’s southwest community, where many students are English learners, suddenly announced its closure. Now, a well-known Detroit charter operator, New Paradigm, has plans to place one of its schools in the building.
