Brooklyn Charter School Night

Last March, more than 1,400 parents crowded into Harlem’s Mt. Olivet Baptist Church to rally support for public charter schools and parent choice. “Harlem Charter School Night” was both inspiring to witness and without a doubt the strongest statement to date by New York City charter school parents that they passionately support their schools and expect their local representatives to support them as well.

“Brooklyn Charter School Night” should be just as uplifting as the Harlem parents’ rally. The event is being organized by Democrats for Education Reform and sponsored by the Charter Center and other charter school advocates. As with the Harlem rally, which drew parents and elected officials from the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, we encourage all charter schools to participate and turn out their parents.
