Discussion: The future of public schools

Out of the Global City presents a dialogue about “NYC Public Schools — Will they remain public?” What is the future of our public schools — the last remaining universal public good in the United States?   As cities like New York increasingly operate as hubs for international finance and global media conglomerates, how are our children serving as their new and emerging markets?

Guests at this dialogue will include speakers from the Center for Immigrant Families, Daphne Farganis of the Hip Hop Theater Festival, journalist Deepa Fernandes, and Edwin Mayorga from the New York Collective of Radical Educators (NYCoRE), and artists Nilaja Sun and Una Aya Osato.
Childcare provided. Spanish-English interpretation available. Free and open to the public.
