Panel: Charter Co-Locations & The Law

The New York Bar Association hosts a panel discussion about charter school co-locations.

The intense debate surrounding the legality of co-location of charter schools with traditional public schools speaks to fundamental perceptions of fairness in providing a quality public education to New York City’s children. Our panel of experts will review the laws defining the administrative process whereby such “major changes in school utilization” are implemented, and examine the potential impact of issues raised in recent litigation on educational quality and school choice.

Speakers: ZAKIYAH ANSARI, Spokeswoman and Organizer, Alliance for Quality Education; LEO CASEY, Vice President for Academic High Schools, United Federation of Teachers; RECY DUNN,Executive Director, Office of Charter Schools, NYC Department of Education; EMILY KIM, General Counsel, Success Charter Network.
