On Thursday, Walcott will open doors

Per the public schedule put out by the Department of Education, Chancellor Walcott is scheduled to appear with Mayor Bloomberg at the ribbon-cutting for the $100 million Harlem Children Zone’s Promise Academy School and Community Center on Thursday morning. In the afternoon, he’ll speak at Newtown High School, which the city wanted to close last year, where the nonprofit City Year New York is holding a graduation ceremony for this year’s volunteers. And in the evening, Walcott will attend a town hall meeting in District 28, held at Queens Gateway to Health Sciences Secondary School.
