YEP-NYC Edu-Book Club: Common Core Reality

With the August 7th release of the 2012-2013 Common Core Exam results there has been a lot of discussion about expectations for 2013-2014. Less than 40% of NYC students were able to pass the exam… is this an administrative issue or a standards issue?

For this month’s Edu-Article Club, we’ll be meeting up at Bryant Park at 6:30pm to discuss what policy makers, educators and parents are saying about the first year’s results.

To inform the discussion, we suggest reading the following three articles:

American education’s path back to greatness from New York Daily News

Educators debate stark decline in test scores from SchoolBook

New York’s Common Core test scores from New York Times

RSVP & get links to the articles at: https://www.eventbrite.com/event/7901791471

We encourage non- K-12 educators and administrators to also join & share their perspective. Spots are limited, so as always, we ask that you cancel your RSVP if your plans change and you can no longer attend the Book Club meeting, so that we can offer your spot to the next person on the waitlist.

We’ll see you there!
