Work at Chalkbeat
Want to help us cover the effort to transform public education? Do you believe in building the future of strong, sustainable journalism? Do you love to learn on the job?
Chalkbeat is hiring mission-driven journalists, business staff and technologists who believe an independent local press is vital to ensuring that education improves. Join us as we seek to provide deep, local coverage of education policy and practice that informs decisions and actions, leading to better schools.
Chalkbeat is seeking a development manager to help us work more efficiently and effectively toward achieving our ambitious fundraising goals. Working closely with Chalkbeat’s development team and our CEO, the development manager will coordinate the day-to-day systems and operations of this team and will manage a diverse portfolio of fundraising projects. The right candidate will be smart, organized, and entrepreneurial, with strong communication, project management, and analytical skills.
Chalkbeat is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, cultural heritage, ancestry, political belief, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability or veteran status. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply. Chalkbeat was founded in 2013 as a merger of GothamSchools and EdNews Colorado, the award-winning news sites that are now known as Chalkbeat New York and Chalkbeat Colorado. We currently have four bureaus (located in New York, NY, Denver, CO, Memphis, TN, and Indianapolis, IN) as well as a centralized network that supports the local bureaus. The network is building a shared infrastructure (technology, editorial and product support, finance, HR and administration) to make our work as high-quality and sustainable as possible.
