This article was originally published in The Notebook. In August 2020, The Notebook became Chalkbeat Philadelphia.
2011 was a busy year at the Public School Notebook.
We were there to cover all of the important stories in 2011. This year, we also grew our staff, we sponsored more events and activities than ever, and our reporters broke some of the biggest education stories of the year. And we did all of this through the support of readers, members, and contributors like you. Thank you.
We need your help now, as 2011 comes to a close, to ensure our high-quality reporting continues in 2012.
Your gift now for this coming year will enable us to pursue our plans to:
- Dig deeper into questions raised about the validity of standardized tests,
- Continue to probe how effectively Philadelphia graduates are being prepared for postsecondary success, and
- Keep a close watch over the District’s plans to close schools.
You can make sure that the Notebook continues to bring you critical education news, information, and analysis throughout the coming year.
Thank you for a great year of reporting, information sharing, dialogue, and community building. We could not have had such a full and successful year without all of our readers, members, and supporters. Enjoy your holidays and see you in 2012!
