On Thursday, October 1, Dr. David Steiner will be sworn in as New York State’s Commissioner of Education at a ceremony in Albany. As the state’s top education official, Dr. Steiner will have broad authority over local school systems.
Nearly 100 organizations and community leaders have endorsed our “Sound Basic Education Covenant,” which contains principles and priorities we’re calling on Dr. Steiner to adopt.
Join us at a press event on Thursday to welcome Dr. Steiner, and urge him to provide strong leadership, enforce accountability, and ensure that the State Education Department and the NYC Department of Education engage parents, students and community.
