The program is a rare example of a pandemic-era program that Congress has made permanent. But delays in many states have left families scrambling.

The pilot program will expand from six to eight school districts this school year.

Jeffco officials estimate the district has enrolled more than 600 new immigrant students, many from Venezuela and Colombia.

Other classroom factors, including class size and teacher pay, did not correlate with third grade reading scores, the study found.

Among the grant recipients are 21 Colorado school districts, seven charter schools, and one youth residential treatment center.
